FINAL PARENT COUNCIL MEETING – MAY 15

If you are a Committee Chair, we would love you to come so we can say thank you for all the work you have done throughout the year.

May Parent Council Update

May is OUTDOOR sand toys month (a staff request) so while you are spring cleaning, hold onto any good condition sand toys/outdoor toys that our students can use and that you no longer need. Drop off is in the bins inside the foyer of the main doors or to the Principal if it is a bigger item. Buckets, shovels, trucks etc are all needed.

A promise is a promise: May 14

May 14: Rag and Bone Puppet Theatre presents “A promise is a promise” to all students. This event is made possible thanks to funding from your Parent Council.

Our next Parent Council meeting is this Wednesday, May 15 at 6:45pm in the School Library. If you can’t attend, think about calling in.

Cyberbullying Presentation – May 30 6:30pm
Parent Council has been successful in bringing in Paul Davis as a speaker on cyberbullying and how to keep our children safe with technology thanks to our PRO grant. Mark your calendars for May 30 at 6:30pm at the school. Please see the attached flyer. Feel free to invite family and friends and the general community.
PPPS is Turning 60!

Did you know that Pleasant Park was built and opened 60 years ago? We think that’s something to celebrate so John Marshall, a parent has agreed to spearhead celebrations in 2019/2020. Parent Council will be organizing various activities this school year and next year to celebrate the school’s 60th. We need your help to spread the word; especially to school Alumni. We also need a few volunteers to help plan out the year. Please send any information about Alumni or if you want to help organize to John Marshall at pppsottawa2020@gmail.com.

BBQ: June 15 

Plan for the Pleasant Park PS BBQ are underway and volunteers are needed. This is a really great social event for our school community. Please contact Liz Kacew at ekacew@gmail.com if you are interested in volunteering.

Pizza Monday term 2 starts on February 11th 2019 and runs until the end of the school year.

67’s Hockey – Can you help us organize this event?

HELP NEEDED! 

Parent Council has decided to host a fun-filled social event at an Ottawa 67’s game in March for all students and their families.

We need to sell tickets in advance and for that we require a parent or team of parents to step up and help organize and coordinate the event details.

Our Executive has started the ball rolling but as many of our usual go to parent volunteers are already very busy, we have no one to run this event.

We have a date, have set ticket prices, and have already sorted out contact details and logistics for selling the tickets but we need YOU! Can you help coordinate ticket sales and distribution and help make this event a success?

Can you help us move some books to clear the stage?

A call out for Volunteers to help transport boxes of books to drop off locations!

Following the great success of our Annual Book Sale, the organizer had a guaranteed pick up of all leftover books. However, a few days after the sale it became apparent that the agreement had fallen through. Now there are close to 100 boxes of books left on the school stage in the gymnasium and we need everyone’s help to move them out before the Arts in the Park showcase in December.

We are asking every family of the school to consider picking up a box or 2 every day/every week and delivering to various locations within the city. Whether you drive in the am to drop children off, pick up at night from Aladin child care or walk to school with a wagon, hopefully, we can count on you! It’s as simple as walking in, explaining what you are getting at the Office and grabbing what you can off the stage in the gym.
Please note that we cannot drop off more than 2-3 boxes at a time so if you happen to be driving all over the city, think about dropping off to different locations to help spread the wealth instead of all of us heading to the nearby locations.
