Meal Service Frequently Asked Questions

PLEASE NOTE: All lunch and popcorn programs are currently on hold due to COVID-19. An announcement will be made when programs are available again.

1. When I order, do I have to list my child under their homeroom teacher?

All food orders are separated by the child’s homeroom teacher, therefore it is VERY important that you properly identify your child’s homeroom teacher. If you don’t know, please check with the school before completing your order. For JK parents who have a child in the class where the teacher is still to be determined, please select class “Junior Kindergarten teacher TBD” for now.

2. Can the food suppliers accommodate allergies?

Our suppliers are very careful to avoid the risk of cross-contamination of common allergens (like tree nuts, peanuts, and sesame) in food preparation and delivery. Parents with concerns about allergies can make a note on their order, and/or contact parent council at

pleasantparkcouncil@gmail.com

3. Can I pay with cash or cheque?

We no longer accept cash or cheques. These payment options require significant volunteer time so parent council voted at its May 2014 meeting to move to online payment only. Therefore, you will notice there is no longer a PayPal fee. The current electronic payment system offers several secure ways to pay.

4. Are there nutrition guidelines for the food?

All food complies with the nutrition standards established by the Ministry of Education and Ottawa Carleton District School Board .  All suppliers are approved by the Board as well, and offer adapted menus that meet the nutrition standards. For example, this means that the pizza your child receives may have been modified from `restaurant-style` pizza to meet these guidelines (i.e. for limited fat and sodium levels).
